Highlights of day two at the conference included Dr Jill Bolte Taylor, a Harvard-trained and published neuroanatomist who experienced a severe hemorrhage in the left hemisphere of her brain in 1996.
She is the author of the New York Times bestselling memoir My Stroke of Insight: A Brain Scientist's Personal Journey. Dr Taylor shared her science and her unique personal journey, in the first plenary of the day.
In the closing plenary of the day, Rt Hon Andrew Lansley MP addressed delegates and reiterated his vision for a healthcare system that is truly patient-centred.
He outlined its purposes and principles, in particular his wish to empower the service, professionals and the front line.
