The NHS Confederation is the only independent membership body for the full range of organisations that make up today's NHS.
Who we are
We represent over 95 per cent of NHS organisations and a growing number of independent healthcare providers.
Our members include ambulance trusts, acute and foundation trusts, mental health trusts, primary care trusts and independent healthcare organisations that deliver services on behalf of the NHS.
We provide a range of services to meet the shared needs of our members and work to address their distinct needs through our family of networks, forums and special interest groups.
We run the NHS European Office to inform NHS organisations of key EU developments and to promote the priorities and interests of the NHS in Europe.
NHS Employers is part of the The NHS Confederation and represents our members on workforce issues.
The Welsh NHS Confederation and the Northern Ireland Confederation support members in their countries and we provide a subscription service for NHS organisations in Scotland.
Our ambition
Our ambition is a national health system that delivers first-class services and improved health for all.
Our values
All of our work is underpinned by our core values:
ensuring we are member driven
putting patients and the public first
providing independent challenge
creating dialogue and consensus.
Our work
Through our programme of networking, information sharing and learning, we help our members to make sense of the complex policy agenda and support them to deliver strong and innovative leadership to the NHS.
We use our expertise and harness the knowledge and experience of our members to help inform the development of healthcare policy - ensuring that new and existing initiatives lead to real improvements in the system and genuine advancements in patient care.
We also provide a source of fresh thinking and help to shape the healthcare debate - working to define the future agenda and identify long-term challenges and solutions.
